THE Wednesday Evening Third Division saw Wild Stallionige, who are in search of their first league title after claiming promotion via the runners-up spot last year, continue their unbeaten run.
However it was no pushover as Brandlesholme defended resiliently and put together some excellent attacking moves to open up the Stallions' defence.
Both teams created chance after chance, and the goals came for both teams as they threw everything at each other to grab the much needed three points.
However it was Wild Stallionige, led by Paul Shaw, who beat Paul Jones' Brandlesholme with a final score of 9-8, which puts the Stallions two points clear above Acodent, although the Stallions do have a game in hand to try and extend their advantage.
Chris Hughes' Ardwicks of the Tuesday Fourth Division, are also in inspiring form as they recorded their fifth win in a row to put them on top of the pile. Ardwicks however had their work cut out for them, as they came up against a strong Hertha Kitt side that had a mixture of youth and experience. They pushed Ardwicks to the limits, but their best was just a fraction too short as Ardwicks won by the single goal, 12-11 the final score.
This division is set for an exciting finish as Pennine lie five points behind Ardwicks, but they have two games to play which could put them on top, and with Tango Town also pushing up at the top of the table it could be anybody's league.
The clash of the top two in the Monday Fourth Division arrived this week as Tag Heuer met Wright Shower. Both sides had only previously lost one game, and so the game was as close as expected. Both sides had 18 points and this game was critical in not only the championship race, but also the race for the runner-up slot that would also give the team promotion. With Gerry Hat Tricks level on points before this game as well, it was critical for both sides to gain all three points, the game however went in favour of Tag Heuer as they won 6-5.
The Thursday Third Division is also looking to be a battle in the final six weeks of the season. Breightmet Cons lead the way with maximum points from all eight games. Any one of the next four teams is then in with a chance of the second promotion spot, as long as Breightmet Cons can keep their unbeaten record intact for the remainder of the season.
Buzz's Boys kept the pressure on with a 19-9 victory against Paul Smith. However GM Waste had a slip up in their promotion challenge as Hampson Thrusts beat them 14-3.
Five Left Feet, who are also in with a shout for the promotion slot, also defeated stiff opposition in the shape of Wandering Trotters. The automatic promotion place is wide open with any one of four teams being able to grab it.
