BOLTON Octagon's Bill Naughton Theatre continues its commitment to innovative drama with Paines Plough's Fringe Festival First Award winner Splendour on October 20 and 21.

A woman's husband has done a runner and she's been told to keep talking. As the small talk runs dry, she seizes the change to avenge herself and to take her place in history. The dictator's wife is ready to greet her press, Splendour -- because women will talk.

A young man joins an insidious mind-control cult and is sent on a mission to raise its numbers. But events start to spin out of control -- brainwashing, strange rituals forbidden sex.

This is described as "a startling new one-man show".

On November 3 and 4, Paines Plough Theatre Company and the West Yorkshire Playhouse present Ticket to Write 4. This is when new writers showcase their work.

For the first time the Octagon is presenting, in association with Bolton Institute, a series of poetry readings in the BT Hospitality Suite.

On selected Mondays between October and February, published poets will be reading from their work. This will include some award winning selections.

The series begins with Bill Scammell and Bill Herbert on Monday, October 16. Peter Pegnall, Mahendra Solanki and Martin Mooney will be there on Monday, November 20.
