Revenge win puts Wanderers on top BOLTON Wanderers Ladies exacted revenge for their defeat in the opening match of the season when they travelled to meet Liverpool Feds.

An excellent 3-1 win put Bolton three points clear at the top of the Premier Division of the North West Women's League.

The Wanderers took control of the game from the start, constantly pressing forward, and only being held out by some fine saves from the Feds keeper.

Totally against the run of play, Liverpool Feds took the lead on 26 minutes from their first shot of the game but Wanderers earned a deserved equaliser on 41 minutes when Nabeela Butt broke through to score.

The second half was virtually one-way traffic as the Bolton defence snuffed out any danger, while midfield and forwards ran the Feds' defence ragged. The decisive goals had to come, and they were provided after 72 and 81 minutes by Jeanette Williams (Player of the Match) and Ann Truffas.

Bolton Wanderers Under 12 A team continued their winning ways, and their 100 per cent record, with a 4 - 1 home win over Poulton St. John's. They also came from behind, going one down after only a few minutes, but pulling the goal back just before half time.

Apart from the early slip, the Wanderers were always in control of this one, and three second half goals gave them the clear result they deserved. Goalscorers were Natasha Green (2), Natasha Strickleton and Christina Workman. Player of the Match was Karla Rostron.

The Under 12B team, faced another difficult task, playing away at Everton. Again they played some good football, but they were unable to keep out the very strong Everton side, with the score finishing at 12-0. Kirsty Bennett was named as Player of the Match for Bolton

Bolton WanderersUnder 14s faced Manchester City at home, and very quickly found themselves four goals behind. In another fine display, they managed to pull back two of those by half time.and the second half saw the Wanderers playing the better football and pegging the score back to 4 - 3, and the equaliser would have come but for a puddle stopping one shot just short of the line.

Instead, a fifth goal for City towards the end sealed the win for the visitors. Goalscorers for Wanderers were Kay Moorhouse and Rebecca Holben.

The Under 16s lost a close encounter, 2-1, at Seville Girls. Playing in poor weather conditions, the Wanderers were not at their best in this game, despite some fine individual performances, and they were not helped by a dubious penalty decision which proved to be the difference between the sides.

Colleen Winstanley scored for Bolton Wanderers, and Player of the Match was Gemma Cuffe
