IN REPLY to the article in the BEN. (October 9) regarding the return of the gipsies to the Grosvenor Street car park. Ms. June Davison is campaigning for the car park to be closed off. If this were to happen it would deprive the college students and tutors of their only parking area. The result of this would be total gridlock in the nearby streets, particularly Herons Way and Dunlin Close, which are already in the process of being made into a 'no waiting' area precisely because of the existing parking problems. This process is currently being held up by the usual council bureaucratic red tape.

A meeting was held some time ago between ward councillors, A.P.C.O.A. car parks, the Irwell Valley Housing Association, Bolton Technical College, and local residents, when the problems of the gipsies, prostitutes, fly-tippers etc. were raised. The college and the council promised that the issues would be addressed and resolved.

What has happened since then? Come on Bolton Council! Get your priorities right!
