THE balloons went up outside this week's Bolton and Bury Business Voice Exhibition at the Reebok Stadium.
One of the exhibitors, ADT Fire and Security, was celebrating the opening of the company's new service and sales centre at the Bolton Enterprise Centre in Washington Street.
Each of the 100 ballons released contained a specially-numbered token which could win the finder a new ADT home security system prize worth more than £600.
A spokesman said: "Any member of the public who finds an ADT balloon simply has to burst it and return the enclosed token to the company's Bolton branch and their name will be entered into a prize draw."
ADT hopes to generate £1 million of revenue during its first year of operation in Bolton.
The initial staff of 12 is expected to double within 18 months.
Sales Manager Rob Blair said: "ADT has been well-established in Manchester for many years and during that time we have attracted a large number of customers from the Bolton area."
ADT Fire and Security is part of Tyco International, which operates in more than 80 countries. Ready for the balloon launch Ref: H4095/3
