Rossendale 1, Brookfields 3
BROOKFIELDS hockey girls took a soaking at the weekend as the rain swept down off the moors but they managed to maintain their unbeaten record.
The opener came within minutes. Jane Blackwell slotted a neat pass across the goalmouth and newcomer Linda Dunstan directed in the opener.
For the remainder of the half they kept up the pressure but although chances came they were not converted and on the whole the team were not playing with the nerve, spirit and commitment they had shown last week.
The half time break was reduced to seconds and the second goal came within minutes of the restart. Jan Patterson picked up a pass from Louise Whaite and aimed a low strike towards the right post. Blackwell raced in from the right and slotted it in.
Brooks' third goal came from a solo effort, Patterson dribbling through the defence before picking her spot to the right of the goalie. Rossendale grabbed a late consolation.
