SCHOOLCHILDREN from an Atherton school are currently featuring in the October issue of national children's magazine - 'Aquila' - the publication for children 'who enjoy a challenge'.
Around 20 former Y6 pupils of St Michael's CE Primary School, Leigh Road, are pictured with Bolton author Shirley Isherwood in the special edition of the magazine which focuses on reading, writers and favourite children's books.
As reported previously in the BEN, Shirley paid them a visit in June of this year to talk about her work as a writer.
The children were enjoying the last few weeks of primary school and now all attend high schools in the area.
Shirley has written 30 children's books and over 200 television programmes, she is perhaps best known for 'The Riddlers' produced by Yorkshire Television.
She received a warm welcome from staff and pupils, and during the visit pupils had a chance to see some of her work and ask questions.
