BOLTON Market Radio and the DBBC organisation were born from a failed bid for the licence to run Bolton's local radio station.
A consortium of community leaders and business people had taken over balcony offices at Ashburner Street market to work for the franchise, which eventually was awarded to Tower FM. But while the work was going on at Ashburner Street, the team received a request to allow a student with learning problems to work as a volunteer. He was so successful that the team decided to develop the idea instead of winding up the operation.
