SWIFT action by staff and supporters at Bolton Wanderers' match on Saturday saved the life of a man who collapsed with a heart attack.

The middle-aged man, who was sitting in the West stand at the Reebok Stadium, became ill during the game against Wolves but St John' Ambulance staff, paramedics, stewards and two off-duty nurses who were nearby rushed to his aid.

The man, who has not been named, was resuscitated and rushed to the Royal Bolton Hospital.

"He is expected to make a good recovery," said Wanderers spokesman Bernie McLoughlin.

"We are pleased and also pleased that our emergency procedures worked so well."
