A CHARITY is offering two courageous children from Bolton the chance to experience a dream Christmas trip to Lapland.
The Wishing Well Appeal, which helps boys and girls who may only have a short life expectancy or are suffering from life-threatening illnesses, wants people in the town to write to them to nominate their candidates.
Chairman and founder Jack Gardner made the offer during a dare-devil sponsored glass-walking event at Clifton Cricket Club, which saw the world record set at 100 ft.
Mr Gardner said: "We want to take a party of children to Lapland just before Christmas. They will enjoy reindeer rides, husky dog rides and meet the real Father Christmas."
The Wishing Well Appeal has been busy raising funds for the Lapland Appeal over the past few months and the glass-walking event produced hundreds of pounds.
Glass from more than 2,500 smashed bottles was spread out on a plastic sheet and 13 people from the Clifton area, sponsored by family and friends, walked 20 ft for the charity.
Then a Nottingham-based team called the Men In Black, who specialise in tasks which expand people's personal development, managed to complete the 100ft world record.
Alan Moore, 39, the first to put bare foot to glass, said: "I feel great, absolutely great. I didn't feel a thing. It's a combination of two things, preparation and concentration."
Guinness does not have a world record for glass-walking but will soon include the distance set in Clifton on Sunday.
If you know a boy or girl who deserves the one-day trip to Lapland, or you would like to make a donation to the charity, write to The Wishing Well Appeal, 5 Galloway Drive, Clifton, Manchester, M27 6PG.
