A NOTORIOUS Farnworth eyesore should be transformed into a new housing estate by the end of the year.
The development on Gladstone Road replaces a four storey Victorian mill that has been a blot on the town's landscape for numerous years.
Formerly known as the Albert Mill site, it borders with Farnworth Park.
The private development of 29 houses and 30 apartments is designed to widen the choice and range of housing in the town.
Residents are set to begin moving into the one, two and three-bedroomed detached and semi-detached houses and luxury apartments within the next few weeks.
The Little Hulton and Farnworth Partnership, through the Farnworth Transport Corridors Project, helped finance the demolition of the derelict mill through match-funding with developers Charlton Homes.
It will be the first housing scheme in Bolton for the Wigan-based company which bought the site in March. The Partnership is also part-funding the renovation of a stone wall between the housing estate and the park.
