LEIGH RMI boss Steve Waywell plans to use some of his first team fringe players in tonight's Nationwide Trophy first round tie at Northwich Vics, writes Mike Hulme.
Striker Mick Morrell, midfielder Tony Durkin, striker Andy Mason and full-back Mick Devenney can all expect call-ups for the tie that was postponed last Tuesday because of a waterlogged pitch at Drill Field.
Craig Dootson is also on standby to replace keeper Dave Felgate who is suffering from a heavy cold.
"It gives me the ideal opportunity to give the rest of the squad a competitive workout so that if needed for first team action they'll be sharp," says Waywell.
RMI have been drawn away at Conference rivals Scarborough in the fourth qualifying round of the AXA sponsored FA Cup.
