BRANDLESHOLME under 12s progressed to the next round of the Manchester County Cup with a fine 2-0 win at home to Longhey Athletic, unfortunately Avro Juniors put up a brave fight but went down away at Swinton Boys.
With a lot of games still succumbing to the bad weather, only a handful of games took place this week.
In the under 12s Division Two Radcliffe Juniors B took the points in a close contest with Radcliffe Boro A Juniors took the lead in the first half with a well taken goal from David Henshall, but Boro came back in the second period and were unlucky not to equalise on several occasions. Juniors managed to hold out for the 1-0 win.
In the under 13s (Division One) Brandlesholme secured their first points of the season with an excellent 2-1 away success at North Walkden. Walshaw and Radcliffe Boro A fought out a 3-3 draw in a thrilling game to share the points.
In Division Two Marauders A also got of the mark with their first points in a topsy-turvy game at Elton Fold with Marauders running out winners by 5-3. Elsewhere Seedfield Sports kept up the pressure at the top of the table when they won 6-0 at Dobbies B. But, Avro Juniors are still setting the pace with a 13-0 triumph against Bridge Colts, Darren Hunt scoring five, John Metcalf three and a brace from Stephen Ross with the Avro goalkeeper converting a penalty.
The only game in the under 14s section saw Horwich Town win 4-2, at Radcliffe Juniors B.
Norden St Clements tore up the formbook winning at Unsworth, hitting four goals without reply in the under 15s Division One. Newly promoted Elton Fold won a close game at Walshaw by one goal in three to stay second in Division One. In Division Two Salford City and Marauders B shared the spoils in a 10 goal thriller at Littleton Road PF, and Seedfield Sports went six points clear when they won 7-2 at home to Bridge Colts.
North Walkden under 16s had a 3-1 success at home to Avro Juniors in the only First Division fixture to survive the weather.
There were only two games played in Division Two with Barr Hill Lads winning 2-0 at Marauders B and Walshaw getting the better of Swinton Boys by three goals to two.
