THE STORY goes ... we once had a superb bus station. Smashing toilets, used by young an old. Ideal for prams, wheelchairs, everyone. Buses could get in to the bus station -- no problem. Now what have we got?
Well, we have got a Farnworth that had £11 million spent on it. Trees that have been planted in concrete squares which the partially sighted keep tripping over, forms which are unsteady, and litter spread from one end to the next.
But, after all this 'tarting up', what don't we have? -- Toilets! In all their wisdom, the council had them taken down. Why?
If you want more people to shop in Farnworth, why take down perfectly good toilets?
Now Dr Iddon talks of making a financial contribution to Asda to let the public use them.
Forgive me, Dr Iddon, but wasn't that (money) the reason for taking them down in the first place? Why don't you put our toilets back and put 5p slots in? Then they would pay for themselves.
And what about all the buses that can no longer get on the bus station, hence causing congestion in King Street. That wasn't a problem before.
May I make a suggestion to Dr Iddon? Why don't you come to Farnworth on a market day? Use our bus station. Use 10p for the things they call 'super loos'. Then judge what we have to put up with.
