ROLL UP, roll up! The fair is about to come to Chorley once again!
Four days of thrills and excitement are guaranteed as the fifth town centre fair gets under way on the evening of Wednesday, October 25, continuing through until Sunday, October 29.
Stalls and rides will be located in Fazakerley Street, Market Street and part of the Flat Iron car park in Chorley town centre.
The funfair will be brought by Gore and De Koning.
Gary Gore, spokesman for the company, said: "Once again we will be bringing back the unforgettable Millennium ride which proved really popular last year.
"But if that's not enough there will also be all the thrills of The Canyon which is the only ride of its kind in the country.
"Families are more welcome than ever and we are improving security and using CCTV cameras to ensure that everyone has a good time."
Councillor Kerry Jones, executive member for commercial development and property, was equally excited that the fir is back in town.
"Chorley is a busy and vibrant town centre and events such as the arrival of the funfair can only add to that.
"As a council we are keen to see increased use of the town centre area and it attracting as many people as possible, not just during the day, but also in the evenings.
"In recent years the funfair has been hailed a big success not just by the public but also local businesses.
"We are confident that will once again be the case this time."
The last Chorley street fair was held in the town over a four-day period from October 28 to October 31 1999, and was hailed a success by a recent council report which stated: "The fair was well attended by the public and for the most part the event once again passed off without incident."
