KIND-hearted line dancers in Chorley have helped raise thousands of pounds for a cancer charity.
Scores of eager dancers -- from beginners right through to enthusiasts -- took to the floor of the Lancastrian Room at Chorley Town Hall on Saturday for the second sponsored line dance in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
And, although organisers are still counting, the money raised so far is £7,680.
Dancers had to complete 30 routines during the six-hour event to collect their sponsorship, but many of them just kept on dancing!
At the event, line dancer Gill Cottell -- who led the dancing with fellow teacher Chris Freeman -- told The Citizen: "It's been absolutely excellent.
"The dancers have never flagged at all -- it's been an incredible effort.
"Everybody has asked if we will be doing it again next year.
"They were supposed to come and do 30 dances, but they have been doing them all.
"It's been a success and we've made a lot of money as well."
Sam Turbefield, of Marie Curie Cancer Care, added: "Some people will have done about 75 to 80 dances by the end of the day! The atmosphere is electric and they are all having such a great time.
"Last year we got £5,000 and I thought we would never top that, but we did.
"We've raised £7,680 so far and it's rising. They have all worked so hard. I am quite sure we will be doing it again."
Marie Curie Cancer Care will be running a 'Lights to Remember' event during Christmas to raise funds. Five pounds will pay for a light -- dedicated, for example, to a loved one, or a special occasion -- to shine on the Marie Curie Christmas tree at Oswaldtwistle Mills.
The switch-on is on December 3 and the lights will shine daily until Twelfth Night.
