THERE'S not many debut albums I receive that I leave playing for the entire CD...I'm pleased to say this is one of them.

Shea Seger is a Texan female singer songwriter, now based in London, who only started singing two years ago but this album feels...well, familiar.

That's not to say it sounds like anything else, just that you feel instantly at home with it. If I have to make comparisons then its with the recent crop of female artists such as Fiona Apple and Sophie B Hawkins but whereas these artists (good as they are) tend to alienate the listener, Shea has produced an album that sucks you in, not least because her voice is a bit special.

As for the songs, well you'll be hearing at least a couple of them within the next few months. MTV has picked up on the most obviously commercial, and she's doing a short tour with James which will do her career no harm at all.

In fact by Xmas you'll know all about her. Why not get a copy of the album now and introduce her to your friends, then you can say 'I told you about her first'...as I have just done!
