ATHERTON'S budding young artists are invited to brush up their skills by attending special workshops during their half term break.
Children aged between eight and 10 years are invited to get some extra expert tuition in art at workshops being held in Wigan's History Shop.
The workshops will be held by artist Gerald Rickards, and run alongside his exhibition there.
A spokesman for Wigan's Heritage Services, said: "This is an opportunity for local children that is not to be missed. Many children show considerable interest and talent for drawing and painting at a surprisingly early age.
"Gerald Rickards has a very wide experience not only of being a working artist but has the ability to communicate both his enthusiasm and knowledge.
"Before he set out to make a living out of selling his work, he taught art at Winstanley College. We are very grateful to Gerald for giving his time and expertise for our local budding artists. You never know, maybe he will discover a future Royal Academician."
Workshops are on Tuesday, October 24, 10am and 12 noon, and Thursday, October 26, 2pm and 4pm. Advance booking is essential. Further information is from Dawn Wadsworth 01942 828128.
