MEMBERS of a Westhoughton football team lost the shirts off their backs after a series of mishaps . . .
But players for Westhoughton Wanderers have now bounced back thanks to local sponsors.
The newly formed team from Daisy Hill appealed to members of the public and local companies for help through the Bolton Evening News.
Since then they have been provided with a second hand kit from TJs Health and Leisure. Further donations have come from Hart Common Garage and Mavita Riding School.
Contributions have also been made by other companies in the area.
Enjoyed
Members of the team will also be holding a disco quiz night at the Red Lion, Westhoughton, to raise further funds, on October 24.
The season has already kicked off and the team is playing in the South Lancashire Sunday League, and so far enjoyed mixed fortunes.
Manager Paul Leadbetter, said: "At one point it was doubtful we would ever get the team off the ground.
"But we have and it is thanks to the companies who have helped us.
"The team is now up and running and open to anyone aged over 16 years.
"We still need help, and any new players are always welcome."
