FIREFIGHTERS were called to a Little Hulton scrapyard early yesterday after a pile of tyres were set alight.
The blaze in Lester Road started shortly before 2am. Firefighters had to tackle the fire near propane gas cylinders which had been opened up and could have exploded.
Police dog handlers had to be called in to remove two guard dogs from the compound before firefighters could fight the blaze.
