STUDENTS with Bolton music Service will have a busy time for the next couple of months. On Saturday, November 11, the New Century Strings ensemble will give a concert at Bethel Church, starting at 3 pm.
The following afternoon the Bolton Youth Choir will be singing at Bank Street Chapel at 3 pm.
On November 18, 17 players from Bolton Youth Orchestra and New Century Strings will be performing with the Manchester Camerata at the Bridgewater Hall.
They will be playing Vaughan Williams' Concerto Grosso to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first performance of this work. Other pupils from music services within Greater Manchester will be taking part.
Bolton Music Service has worked with Manchester Camerata on various projects over the last four years. There will be workshops in Bolton and Manchester before the final performance.
On December 1, Bolton Youth Orchestra and Opera 74 will present A Winter Celebration at the Victoria Hall, Bolton, at 7.30 pm.
This will include the Act II (Concert Version) of Puccini's La Boheme; Arnold's Song of Simeon, Vivaldi's Winter from The Four Seasons with Gerald Hopkin as soloist, and Richard Strauss's Serenade.
There will be a family celebration of Christmas in aid of the Mayor's Charity at the Victoria Hall on December 15, starting at 7 pm. Bolton Music Service's brass band and choir will be taking part.
