DETECTIVES claim thugs who pushed a firework through a letter box could have put lives at risk.
Police officers were called to the house in Platt Hill Avenue, Deane, at 8.45pm yesterday after the firework was thrown.
It caused an estimated £30-worth of damage to flooring and the front door and the fire brigade was not called to the scene.
But today Bolton CID chiefs condemned the actions of the hooligans in the run up to Bonfire Night, as officers began to probe the incident.
Det Insp Martin Freschini said: "We're obviously concerned about this because it's a very dangerous thing to do. It's something which could put lives at risk and we treat these matters seriously."
Anyone who spotted the firework being pushed through the letter box should contact Bolton police on 0161 872 5050.
