I WRITE further to my letter published in the BEN on October 6.
On Saturday, October 21, local Muslims held a silent march from Zakariya Mosque in Peace Street, Bolton to Victoria Square, Town Hall.
The protest march was about Israel's 'shoot to kill' policy, which continues to slaughter young children and others.
As an observer, I would like to say how impressed I was with the peaceful protest.
Acknowledgments must go to the organisers of the march for producing brilliant banners. There were also many volunteers who ensured that the march kept to a minimum any disruption that this may have caused.
The police in their supporting role were brilliant and the local authority was also instrumental in assisting with the plans.
Imam Rashid Seth of Zakariya Mosque needs a specific mention, as he was the lead organiser. Credit also goes to members of Zakariya Mosque, the oldest established mosque in Bolton, set up in 1967.
It was great to see the passers-by listening to the speeches in Victoria Square, and the Bolton public who picked up leaflets and signed the petitions against Israel's unjust war.
This was an example of how to effectively get a message across, and I hope the others follow this example too.
