DO the Council Tax payers of Bolton have to keep putting up with this? I see the MBC has come up with a figure of five per cent for next year's Council Tax.
It always goes up but it NEVER levels off. It never comes down, and it will probably stay that way for years to come.
Do the MBC think every Bolton resident who pays Council Tax has unlimited resources -- those that DO pay Council Tax?
Well, they should think again, because we don't.
Each year they come up with a Council Tax figure. Is it calculated to cover the people who DON'T pay? I understand services need paying for -- if you can call some of them 'services'.
Isn't it true that there are millions of pounds outstanding owed to the MBC by defaulters -- those who have never paid rent or Council Tax or other dues for years?
Is it easier for the MBC to put up the Council Tax instead of getting out there and collecting the outstanding monies owed?
There are too many people in society drawing on resources -- locally and nationally. They either don't, or won't, pay into the system -- and it can't go on.
I believe there are many people in Bolton sick and tired, as I am, of having their Council Tax put up every year when they see or hear of so much money being owed, and that the Council are not being seen to do enough to collect the money.
Also, more and more people every year are not paying their dues. I understand some people need help and I accept that, but there are others that don't.
Other people struggle too, but THEY pay. People should not have to struggle to pay, to carry those that won't pay. It can't go on like this. People's incomes cannot keep up. There will soon be nothing left for anything else but the Council Tax.
It is no good saying that people can get help -- some people don't qualify. Why should we keep tolerating this?

Farnworth Not only for the MBC's sake, but also for the people of Bolton who have paid their dues to society by paying their Council Tax on time and do not owe any back payments the the MBC.
