Bolton Wanderers Reserves 0, Oldham Athletic Reserves 3
WANDERERS Reserves found things difficult against Oldham Athletic at a wet and windy Hilton Park last night.
The visitors secured the points with three well taken goals and even had the luxury of missing a second half penalty. Bolton keeper Matt Glennon made a spectacular diving save from Matthew Tipton early on but could not prevent Mark Allott giving Oldham a 29th minute lead with a far post header.
Liam Richardson went close for the Wanderers when his 10th minute shot struck the post with Oldham keeper David Miskelly well beaten.
Oldham took command of the game in a five-minute spell early in the second half. Firstly they were awarded a 50-minute penalty when the referee ruled that Wayne Buchanan had fouled Tipton. He got up to take the spot kick and saw Glennon make a great save by diving to his left to push the ball away.
Two minutes later, Andrew Holt ran into a left wing free kick to notch a second and then, almost immediately, Tipton was first to a right wing cross to score from close range.
Bolton found chances difficult to come by and the nearest they came to reducing the arrears was when a Paul Wheatcroft shot was deflected on to the post.
Team: Glennon, Richardson, Buchanan, Stephen, Fenepej, Passi (Ryan), McDonagh, Norris, Wheatcroft, Snorrason (Kaprielian), Rankin (Morini).
