A HORTICULTURAL Centre owned and run by Bolton council which also provides day care and training for adults with learning disabilities, today launched several new partnerships.
Heaton Fold Centre, which is a nursery and garden centre has been managed since April 1999 by the Council's Commercial Services on behalf of the Social Services.
Today several partnerships were launched including:
The Women's Royal Voluntary Service, who are about to operate a weekend cafe at Heaton Fold for the benefit of customers.
Greater Manchester Probation Service, whose young offenders are creating a picnic area and woodland trail for students and customers as part of their community service.
Bolton WISE Ltd., where long-term unemployed are carrying out maintenance work for Heaton Fold while gaining real work experience and a qualification.
Bolton Volunteer Bureau, whose volunteers help throughout the centre while gaining experience of working with adults with learning disabilities.
Bolton Metro Grounds Maintenance Partnership, whose award winning horticulturists are working with the students at Heaton Fold to share their expertise.
There will also be an awards ceremony for students at the centre. For the first time ever, every student at Heaton Fold has achieved a nationally recognised qualification.
