BOLTON police officers who took part in a football match in memory of a murdered workmate raised hundreds of pounds for a children's charity.
Eight teams competed for the John Egerton Trophy in a five-a-side fixture which has become an annual event.
And the annual game saw £300 raised for Chorley-based Derian Children's Hospice, with a team from Bolton Central running out eventual winners.
Bolton Wanderers' assistant manager Phil Brown and John's mother Joan Egerton presented a trophy to the victorious team.
John, who was based at Farnworth, was stabbed to death by a man he caught siphoning petrol 18 years ago.
Competition organiser Sgt Ian Brammer, who is based at Astley Bridge police station on Crompton Way, said: "The tournament is something everyone looks forward to."
It is usually staged in April or May but a broken ankle, sustained by Ian during a Sunday league fixture, delayed this year's event.
