THERE'S a very special programme for A Remembrance Concert for the Millennium at the Victoria Hall on November 11. Bolton Choral Union are staging the concert in association with Bolton Hospice. The St Nicholas Singers from Chorley are also taking part. The conductor is Michael Greenhalgh and the soloists are Mark Wildman and Suzannah Clarke.
Mark. a bass, has travelled throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Britain and America.
He has sung with most of Britain's foremost orchestras , at the Promenade concerts and at a number of British and European festivals.
He combines a busy performing career with that of a Professor of Singing at the Royal Academy of music where he was appointed Head of Vocal Studies in 1991.
Suzannah Clarke has taken leading roles in many operas. She sang the National Anthem at Wembley Stadium in June 1996 at the opening ceremony of the Euro '96 Football Championships.
A Principal Soprano for two years at the English National Opera at the London Coliseum, she recently appeared in a principal role for Welsh National Opera and made her debut in Peter Grimes at La Scala, Milan. Suzannah has been offered principal roles with Hamburg Opera House and Barcelona Opera House.
Michael Greenhalgh was joint founder of Opera 74 with Margaret Lindsay.
He has been musical director of BCU for 28 years. Earlier this year he was musical and artistic director for Pageant 2000 in Blackburn Cathedral. He is Head of Performing Arts at Blackburn College.
The programme comprises Walton's Spitfire Prelude and Fugue; Elgar's Spirit of England, Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem and Coates The Dambusters March.
