FULL TIME: Wanderers 3 QPR 1
THE result was all that mattered - the second half super show and two special goals were a bonus, writes Neil Bonnar.
Wanderers earned only their second win in nine games but they took their time getting into their stride.
The first half was played a pedestrian pace by Sam Allardyce's men before they were stunned by a sucker punch goal with QPR's first serious attack when Peter Crouch headed in Marlon Broomes' cross three minutes before the break.
Wanderers' response was instant, Gudni Bergsson nodding in at the far post after keeper Lee Harper palmed Ricardo Gardner's corner on to his head.
Wanderers looked a different team after the break, running strongly on and off the ball and finally finding a penetrative edge.
Robbie Elliott typified the determined approach when he attacked the ball 25 yards out, took one touch and hammered an unstoppable shot into the top corner on 62 minutes.
Three minutes later Michael Ricketts scored his first goal as a member of the starting 11 with a clever near post flick from the impressive Kevin Nolan's cross.
It was all a far cry from a dull first half in which all the action came right at the end.
ACTION POINTS
7 mins: Frandsen's fiercely struck 25-yard free kick could have gone anywhere when it took two deflections in the box but, unfortunately for Wanderers, the ball ricocheted two yards wide.
12 mins: Kevin Nolan's near post flick from a long throw almost caught out the QPR defence but finished in the side netting.
16 mins: Karl Connolly's perfectly timed run on to Gavin Peacock's through ball pierced the Wanderers defence but he took too long to bring the ball on to his left foot and a weak shot was easily smothered by Jaaskelainen.
21 mins: QPR had keeper Lee Harper to thank for keeping them level with a flashing one-handed save to push away Ricardo Gardner's bullet close range header from Bo Hansen's cross.
27 mins: Kevin Nolan's super first touch in a crowded penalty area killed a deep cross stone dead only for his instant shot to be blocked by alert defenders.
35 mins: Gardner threatened again in the air when he darted on to O'Kane's right wing cross only to miss his header six yards out.
GOAL !
42 mins: Wanderers paid the penalty for slack defending when Marlon Broomes was given acres of space to deliver his cross and Peter Crouch was unchallenged as he planted a firm header just inside the post.
GOAL!
45 mins: Gudni Bergsson was perfectly placed to nod in at the far post after keeper Harper got his hand to Gardner's corner.
Half-time: 1-1
48 mins: Gavin Peacock stung Jaaskelainen's hands with a 25-yard piledriver that the keeper did well to parry to safety.
GOAL !
62 mins: Robbie Elliott had one thing on his mind when he attacked the ball 25 yards out, taking one touch before unleashing a screamer into the top corner.
GOAL!
65 mins: Nolan produced a sweet turn and low drive towards the near post which Michael Ricketts expertly flicked inside the near post.
69 mins: Hansen twisted and turned sweetly inside the box and powered in a left-footed shot which appeard goal-bound before Matthew Rose saved the day with a brave header - that's if he knew anything about it!
81 mins: Hansen cut in from acres of space on the left to blast in a low show which was again deflected away from danger by Rose.
91 mins: Richard Langley wasted a gilt-edged chance with a wild swing at the ball from eight yards.
