FOLLOWING another prolonged spell of rain, Winter Rounders League organisers feared the worst for Sunday's fixtures.
But sunshine and a strong wind on Sunday morning resulted in the ground conditions being remarkably good.
With more rain forecast for the afternoon, players at Breightmet and Halliwell were remarkably lucky, finishing their matches about half an hour before the rain returned.
Players in the morning matches at Farnworth were troubled by the strong sunshine, at least that was the excuse given for some dropped catches.
Darcy Lever maintained their unbeaten record at the top of Section 'A' with a comfortable win over The Grapes and Siddons stayed joint second with an equally easy game against Royal Hotel.
Imago, however, had a close call against Adlington and secured both points by just four runs.
In Section 'B', Hanson beat Harper Green Girls by 200-100 but the youngster had a good close first innings before collapsing in the second.
Bolton Motor Bodies contained The Flag well in the first innings, trailing by 23 at the break but fell away badly in the second innings, eventually losing by 74 runs to the team in joint second place.
Carl Chapman kept a share of second spot with a narrow seven run victory over ASAP Ladies.
Crompton XI stay top of the Halliwell League following their comfortable win over bottom side Assured Ladies.
BRUFC and Westhoughton share second place, two points off the lead, but BRUFC had to come from three behind at the interval to beat Bury XI by just nine runs.
Smithills Coaching House recorded their second win of the season when they comprehensively beat Darcy XI.
Although Smithills had a 40-run start, they played well and won by 34 runs against a much more experienced side.
In the Breightmet League, Price's are unbeaten leaders after four games, second placed CRS have lost once, Carl Chapman prop up the table after four defeats, but the remaining five team are all equal on four points with two wins and two defeats to their credit.
