REMEMBRANCE Day is always a day we should never forget. It is a day when families, friends and old comrades can think and remember old friends and family members, who gave their lives to give us our freedom that we have today.
I think also we should remember those that are still living, some still bearing the cruel scars of war, and those that are now still enjoying its freedom.
As a matter of interest, I came across a photo I took on a pub outing. Like all pub trips, we took our elderly patrons along with us. These three chaps were all called Bill, all good men, all three fought in the last war.
Bill Hurst, Bill Collinson Snr, Bill Topping. One was a paratrooper, one a guardsman, and one was in tank command. Sadly though, two have passed away over the last few years. But what I remember about that trip was one of the old gentlemen saying nobody wants war, but sometimes you have no choice. But when you have a tyrant on the rampage, then you have to go out and do a job.
I thought what a nice photo this is of three gentlemen, enjoying the peace of a British countryside, a peace that they and others like them fought for.
Thank you and let's remember.
