A TALENTED photographer is getting plenty of exposure in Chorley!
It's a double take for Mawdesley-based Phillipa Halliwell -- with two local exhibitions running at the same time.
Her portrait and wedding work is on show until November 10 at Cedar Farm Galleries -- where Phillipa is based.
And her 'Three Centuries' exhibition is running at Wrightington Hospital until Friday (November 3) -- featuring photographs and memorabilia from 19th century to present day.
Phillipa worked with Age Concern and the Parbold Luncheon Club to create the Three Centuries display.
It shows her own work alongside old and new photographs taken by senior citizens in the area.
Other objects such as a gas mask, a 1949 Wigan fashion show programme, and a Second World War flying helmet will also be on show.
Phillipa said: "Everyone who took part enjoyed sharing their memories. The result is a nostalgic and poignant exhibition reflecting the changes that have occurred in rural Lancashire over this period.
"I have met so many interesting people, for example there was a 91-year-old man who still drives and still works! It was just a case of making people aware of how inspirational people can be and it's an opportunity to show something positive about old age."
By contrast, Phillipa's wedding and portrait exhibition at Cedar Farm has an up-to-date feel. "I have got a very natural style," she commented. And the popularity of her work -- which shows wedding parties in informal, rather than conventional poses -- is growing rapidly.
She commented: "Obviously it's very pleasing that the two exhibitions are running concurrently. Together I think they give a very good introduction to the type of work I am most interested in."
Phillipa -- a one-time sports coach who has also run two sports shops -- decided to go into photography for a change of direction.
She completed a BTEC certificate and various other courses in the subject, before opening her business at Cedar Farm Galleries last November.
And now she is looking to widen her scope. "I am an animal lover -- and I love photographing animals. I would like to do more of that really," she said.
