CHORLEY'S Olympic cyclist Jason Queally failed in his bid to add the world title to his Sydney gold in Manchester.
Making his British return at his home velodrome, Jason, who won the one kilometre time trial in Australia, could only manage a bronze medal.
Whittle-le-Woods' pride and joy finished behind Frenchman Arnaud Tournant, who won by a tenth of a second, and German Soren Lausberg who could only manage a fourth place in Sydney.
However, despite failing to match his Olympic gold medal Queally improved on his fifth place at the World Championships in Berlin 12 months ago.
The five-day long event began last Wednesday evening.
