BOLTON'S very own Vernon Kay has told us at the BEN that he has swapped modelling for a career in TV -- and a very successful career that's turning out to be.
Vernon was snapped up by the BBC to present the summer run of kids' Saturday morning programme, FBI. It finished a couple of weeks ago but the Beeb were so impressed with the Lostock lad that they offered him a slot co-presenting Top Of The Pops 2 on Sunday afternoon's BBC2.
Vernon says: "I loved modelling but the TV work began to build up more and more, so much so that I didn't really have the time to do both. So I chose TV. I love the buzz of working with so many different people and, anyway, my mum loves seeing my face on the telly!"
He hasn't turned his back on the world of fashion completely though. "I'd still do the odd modelling job of course, when I get the time that is."
He has another kind of "modelling" job next Tuesday, however, when his work behind the lens rather than in front of it, goes on show.
Nivea Visage have set up a "Beauty on Beauty" exhibition in London using photography by a handful of models from top agency Select.
