SATURDAY
Wanderers' woes continued as they followed up losing their previous two games to last minute goals with throwing away a 3-1 lead in the last three minutes against Crystal Palace. The point took their tally to seven from eight games, a far cry from the previous seven league matches which had produced six wins and a draw. To add to their problems Ian Marshall and Simon Charlton both picked up injuries which would rule both out of the midweek match.
MONDAY
GUDNI Bergsson vowed that the Wanderers defence will sort out their defensive frailties after two last gasp goals denied them two points against Palace, saying tomorrow's game against QPR couldn't come quickly enough.
TUESDAY
WANDERERS lifted confidence and their First Division position with a rousing 3-1 victory over QPR to put a smile back on the Reebok after a run which had returned just one victory in eight games. Two sensational second half goals from Robbie Elliott and Michael Ricketts capped a great night after Gudni Bergsson had levelled on the stroke of half time.
WEDNESDAY
SAM Allardyce admitted he had not got a penny to spend on boosting his squad. He wanted a new striker to replace Isaiah Rankin whose loan spell ends at Birmingham on Saturday but said his best hope was to bring in a loan player. Paul Warhurst's hopes of getting in a first reserve game after a lengthy injury absence were hit by the postponement of tonight's game at Burnley.
THURSDAY
SAM Allardyce continued his search and ran the rule over a couple of foreign players. One of them was Danish midfield man Carsten Fredgaard, bought by Sunderland 18 months ago for £1.8m when he had looked destined to finish up at the Reebok. The other player being put through his paces was Finland's little-known Jani Neimi.
FRIDAY
COLIN Hendry, the former Blackburn defender was linked to the Wanderers. But his move from Coventry would probably only come about if Mark Fish, who has refused to extend his contract with the club, moved on. Meanwhile Dean Holdsworth was ruled out of today's match at Birmingham, where he could have faced his twin David, while Paul Warhurst was in the frame to make a surprise return from injury.
