THE hauliers and farmers, with a large consensus of the general public behind them, have made it clear to Tony Blair and his government, that enough is enough when it comes to tax on fuel.

The argument that if he reduces duty on fuel, he will not be able to fund other sectors of the economy, does not hold water.

For many causes, such as giving overseas aid, millions of pounds to support military aid for far-flung places, funding the endless stream of refugees and asylum seekers, while at the same time giving pensioners 75p a week rise, while all the time receiving high salaries and giving handouts to fat cats, smacks of arrogance.

How much money was wasted on that folly, the Millennium Dome? A vast percentage of the British people did, and still do, support the efforts of the protesters, despite their own difficulties. Tony Blair and his Cabinet would do well to heed the signals, show a bit of common sense -- and balance the books in a more constructive and fairer way.
