TODAY's television from Westminster includes a statement from the Home Secretary on the measures to be taken in the event of the proposed protest by farmers and road hauliers. These measures are necessary in order to protect this country from being brought to a standstill by a handful of Tory-led, yes 'Tory', protesters who have their own self interests in mind rather than the welfare of the general public.
At a recent meeting of these protesters, reported in a leading national newspaper, not a tabloid, the two main speakers were a road haulier from Essex with a £2 million business, and a farmer who owned 800 acres; other wealthy farmers were also present, as could be seen by the numbers of Jaguar and BMW cars in the car park.
In reply to Jack Straw's statement, anti-cannabis Ann Widdecombe ranted away by blaming the Government for the very high price of fuel at the pumps; she and the rest of the Tory front bench must have been suffering from loss of memory. Not one word in condemnation of these near-anarchists was forthcoming from the Tory front bench. The people of this country can now reach their own conclusions on this matter.
