CRIME-FIGHTING cops are urging Bolton householders to ensure their homes are well-guarded this winter.
Community safety officers in the town are warning people that the dark winter nights will offer criminals a greater chance to work under cover of darkness.
Their tips include:
Ensure curtains and blinds are shut at night and lights are left on in the living area of their homes if they go out
Using timer switches to give the appearance that there is movement in their homes
Not to sit at home with curtains open
Locking doors and windows at night - with a third of burglars sneaking in through open door and windows
Not to answer the door after dark, unless you are expectinga visitor.
