Two fire engines from Bolton Central were sent to the Crompton Place NCP car park on Exchange Street at 12.30am this morning after reports of the fire in the security cabin.
A fire spokesman said: "The guards have a cooker in the cabin and a chair placed near to it had caught fire.
"The chair was destroyed and there was smoke damage to the cabin.
"One of the guards tried to fight the flames with an extinguisher and took in a small amount of smoke."
