REGARDING the plight of the Jubilee Pool (BEN, October 30) and the 'Too cool, too hot' story. This is nothing new. It has been an ongoing problem for quite a few years. Suffice it to say -- not enough cash (an old and regular excuse!).
The refurbishment of this pool was welcomed by all users. Sadly, it has not been given the full work required, as anyone who attends can clearly see.
I wonder if any of our local councillors etc have had a good look in the actual pool itself, or even had a swim in it! I doubt it.
As we see in the BEN, these people are at the forefront when the flag-waving is in progress. Political? Do they really care? Are they doing their best with public money? Who in their wisdom decides which is most essential -- like the horrible Town Hall precinct and fountains farce!
I do believe we in Bolton are fortunate to even have such a pool -- thanks to the late Councillor Betty Hamer & Co.
If you want a prize-winning pool, then give it the full works and do it right. You never know when you might need this facility.
But then, perhaps, for some people, it is too hot to handle!
