A FORMER Chorley mayor and his wife have been handed the honour of officially representing Coppull branch of the Royal British Legion at Remembrance Day gatherings in London this weekend.
Ralph and Joyce Snape are both current independent councillors on Chorley Borough Councillor.
Tomorrow (Friday) they will be guests of Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle for a tour of the House of Commons. And on Saturday they will attend the Festival of Remembrance at the Albert Hall.
On Sunday, the couple will attend the service and parade at the Cenotaph, Whitehall.
"I'm proud to be representing Coppull British Legion," said Ralph, aged 71, a Coppull branch member. "It is a once in a lifetime chance."
He added that his wife, Joyce, 67, was also thrilled to have been given the opportunity.
Cyril Melling, Coppull branch secretary, explained: "So many tickets are allocated to each county and then it is the luck of the draw from then on."
Branch chairman Joe Wane added: "You apply for them and hope to get them.
