DOCTORS in Bolton look set to join together to form their own trust.
The GPs and community nurses in the town will be able to have independence from the health authority if they decide to push for trust status.
It would mean they would be given more control over budgets and be able to bid for health contracts.
Bolton is divided into three sub-committees of the Wigan and Bolton Health Authority. These may merge and form a single trust, or all three become separate trusts. The proposals will be put before the health authority in the New Year before they are sent out for consultation.
