LANCASHIRE'S Street Lighting Group have scooped another award for green thinking.
And the group have been praised for their efforts by members of Lancashire County Council.
At a recent meeting of the highways and transportation committee, councillors were told that the Street Lighting Group have managed dramatic cuts in energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions over the past 15 years.
Chorlry county councillor Richard Toon, chairman of the committee, said: "We have proved once again that we are leading the way with energy efficiency and the Street Lighting Group should once again receive congratulations.
"Key industry figures, such as Callum McCarthy, regulator of OFGAS, and Anna Walker, from the Department of Trade and Industry, have been impressed by our efforts and other local authorities will look to the example we have set."
