THE Magpies crashed out of the FA Umbro Trophy despite David Eatock giving them a 13th minute lead.

Manager Ken Wright made one change from Saturday's game bringing Damian Corcoran back after suspension in place of Ian Leather.

The Magpies could have conceded a goal in only three minutes when from a long kick by Accrington keeper Jamie Speare, Mark Court missed the ball, allowing the pacy Gary Williams into the penalty area but he dragged his shot wide.

Chorley took the lead in the 13th minute when a long ball out of defence by Corcoran caught the Stanley defence napping, Matt Swailes raced into the penalty area and played a low pass for David Eatock to fire the ball into the net from ten yards.

Accrington hit back and drew level on 29 minutes when they were awarded a free kick for a foul on Paul Burns. Steve Hollis floated the ball over, Brett Baxter flicked it on and Paul Burns fired the ball past Simon Marsh from close range. On the half hour mark Hollis sped into the Chorley penalty area and appeared to be brought down by Corcoran, referees assistant Mr Kettlewell signalled for a penalty but he was over ruled by referee Mr Unsworth.

Two minutes later Swailes turned neatly in the Stanley penalty area, went past one defender but saw his left foot shot saved by Speare.

After 35 minutes Chris Blakeman conceded a free kick some 35 yards out bringing down Hollis who took the kick himself forcing Marsh to make a good save low to his right.

Accrington were awarded a penalty on 71 minutes, Greg Challender mis-kicked the ball into his own penalty area, substitute Paddi Wilson was fouled by Corcoran and Burns stepped up and blasted his spot kick high over the crossbar.

Two minutes later Challender fouled Wilson 25 yards out and Hollis struck a fierce shot that Marsh saved brilliantly, diving to his right. With Stanley well on top it came as no surprise that they scored what turned out to be the winning goal after 75 minutes. Burns crossed from the right, Mark Patterson stole in and his delicate glancing header gave Marsh no chance.

Chorley were unable to find anyway back into the match and created little in the closing minutes.
