WATCHING D Handley on television, demanding big cuts in the cost of fuel, I wondered if he was talking about cuts for his tractors or four-wheel-drive. Diesel fuel for tractors costs 25 to 27 pence per litre (gas oil) and the duty on it is five per cent.
I am self-employed in the construction industry and that is the price we pay for gas oil. I travel in excess of 450 miles per week, so I would dearly like to see my costs coming down. But the ballot box is the way, not blockades. I also wonder if D Handley has a hidden agenda and who is backing him financially?
