PLANS to modernise the way the House of Commons operates have been supported by Bury North MP David Chaytor.
The Modernisation committee was set up by the commons to improve workings in the House.
Two main proposals have been recommended. One is that there should be a proper system of time-tabling for Bills and the other is that votes after 10pm should be stopped except for exceptional circumstances.
Mr Chaytor said: "Regularly conducting business in the small hours of the morning is insane.
"Tired MPs make bad laws -- and the British public deserve better."
