THE nation may have been gripped by US election fever but for one Horwich man it all sounds a bit too familiar.
Antiques dealer George Bush has become used to hearing his name on every TV and radio news bulletin over the past few weeks.
Now he is bracing himself for an endless stream of jokes about the name he shares with one of the two men fighting a marathon battle to become the most powerful man on the planet.
But Horwich's Mr Bush, who runs Stags Head Antiques on Chorley New Road, has deliberately avoided the election hype.
He said: "I can't make head nor tail of the American political system.
"I have enough trouble with our own so I have not paid much notice."
Father-of-three George is no stranger to having his leg pulled over his famous name -- he had to endure four years of it when George Bush Snr stalked the corridors of the White House between 1988 and 1992.
He said: "At one time, when I used the phone and told them what my name was I would get a comment.
"I used to tell people that being president of the US was my weekend job."
George used to run an export business to the US and did much of his business in Florida -- the state which has become the linchpin of the US elections.
He said: "I phoned a woman once on business and her young son answered.
"I told him my name and it all went quiet.
"Then in the background I heard him shout -- mum it's the President on the phone for you."
