BOLTON schoolteacher Mary Lou McFarlane has brought an early Christmas present to St Thomas of Canterbury School, Bolton.
She entered a competition on the World Wide Web and won a £500 cash prize for the school of her choice through Internet shopping centre go-help. She had no hesitation in donating the prize to St Thomas', where she has been a supply teacher for the past two years. The prize was presented to the school on Friday morning by Ruth Kelly MP.
The company's business is all about giving cash to schools though commission.
Headmistress Mrs Frances Lysyj said: "We will be putting the money to good use in our Millennium Garden Project. We will be buying plants and garden furniture for the stepped terrace area. The children will be able to work in and enjoy the garden throughout the year."
