NATIONWIDE Conference new boys Leigh RMI have made a transatlantic addition to their squad by landing former Wanderers defender Nicky Spooner.
Spooner, 29, has joined RMI from American outfit Charleston Battery and was in the squad for Saturday's draw at Woking. He is also expected to be in contention for Sunday's FA Cup first round tie at Millwall.
Spooner has battled back after badly breaking his leg playing for Wanderers at Burnley in 1994, spending almost 18 months on the sidelines before returning to skipper Bolton's reserves and eventually taking up a lucrative contract with Charleston Battery.
He skippered Battery when they won the American A-League last season to become champions of the Atlantic Division.
