Crompton Fold pupils fly their flag at the Manchester Arena YOUNGSTERS from Bolton took their place among more than 7,500 voices to form part of the largest children's choir in the world.
Pupils from four schools in the town joined seven from Bury, one from Leigh and one from Worsley for the Young World Concert at the Manchester Arena.
The gig raised cash for Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and was the first time many of the schools -- both primary and secondary -- had been involved in such a large scale event.
One of those taking part, Bolton School Junior Boys on Chorley New Road, sent 44 youngsters. They sang a medley of songs from the hit musical Grease. The other Bolton schools were: St Columba's on Ripley Street; Crompton Fold Primary, Poulton Avenue, Breightmet; and Eagley Junior on Chapeltown Road, Bromley Cross.
Mike Percik, headteacher of Bolton School Junior Boys, said: "This was a wonderful opportunity to encourage our boys to join the thousands of other children from all over the North-west singing together for such a worthwhile cause."
Each school was asked to create a banner bearing their school's name.
Bolton School Junior Boys was judged to be one of the best seven and has been entered into a competition, the result of which will be known later this month.
